Police Will Continue To Monitor Social Website Activities

GEORGE TOWN, June 1 (Bernama) -- The police will continue to monitor and act against individuals who use the social website for activities which violate the country's laws.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin said the police would scrutinise social website activities to detect elements of crime or sedition.
"If there is solid evidence, the police will act without giving prior warning. We have already given so many warnings before.
"And, we have been taking stern action all this while but it is not necessary to elaborate on what we have done," he told reporters after attending the wedding of the Penang police chief's eldest daughter here Saturday.
He was asked to comment on an article in a local newspaper on the DAP's Red Bean Army which was allegedly formed to attack the Barisan Nasional government.
The alleged army was exposed by DAP Youth's former executive secretary Shen Yee Aun in an interview with a news portal, Mynewshub, which was then uploaded on YouTube.
On the development of an action committee pertaining to the death of a detainee in a police lock-up, Mohd Bakri said the committee would be chaired by the inspector-general of police.
"We will tighten the standard operating procedures on lock-up detention by reviewing those areas where we could enhance to adapt to the prevailing situation," he said.
